Does Your Toddler Throw Food? Don’t Ignore This Simple Solution!

When a toddler throws food, it can be very frustrating for parents. What to do? The secret is to figure out what’s causing your little one to throw food and address the root cause. In the seven years that I’ve worked with parents I’ve seen this common cause: It creates a strong reaction from you. Toddlers LOVE to cause something to happen.

Solution: Ignore the behavior.

Respond with a simple, “We don’t throw food on the floor.” And, don’t give them back their items. While they may respond with a meltdown this time, they’ll quickly learn to keep things that they want on their tray and the throwing stop.
