Air hand dryers have been touted to reduce the spread of germs. But you may want to go old school with paper towels after your public potty break, especially if the restroom has a Dyson jet air dryer.
A study in the Journal of Applied Microbiology found that air dryers launch more viruses in the air – and at a further distance – and they hang around for a longer period of time. In a comparison of warm dryers, jet dryers and paper towels, jet dryers spread more than 20 times more viruses vs. warm dryers and 190 times more than paper towels.
