Kangaroo Care Reduces Mortality Rates for Low Weight Babies Kids' Health

As many as 4 million babies die each year during their first month of life, and infants born early or at a low birth weight are at particular risk. A study in the journal Pediatrics suggests that Kangaroo Care  skin-to-skin contact between Mom and Baby  can reduce infant deaths by more than one-third compared to conventional care. 

Kangaroo Care is believed to help regulate a baby’s temperature and breathing rate and, according to the study, increase likelihood of exclusive breastfeeding at hospital discharge by 50 percent.
