Fall means lots of opportunities for nature walks, which provide good exercise for you and outdoor fun for the kids. While taking a walk with your kids, give them a bag so they can collect acorns and the "hats" of the acorns, too. Then decorate your house (for cheap!) with them in a variety of ways:

• Put them on the runner of your table for a festive accent.
• Put them in a glass vase to hold a candle.
• Have the kids make a wreath by gluing them onto a piece of Styrofoam or cardboard.
• Use them to inspire a 3D still-life painting.
