Mayaro: Another Mosquito Borne Virus? Don't Panic! Here's Why... by Nicole DeAvilla
We can now add the Mayaro virus to our watch list of mosquito-borne diseases. According to HealthFinder.gov, the virus has spread from the Amazon to Haiti and is being closely monitored. Here is what we can do:
- Don't panic. Take a deep breath. Relax. It may not spread and would only be of concern if traveling.
- Take preventive measures. No one likes a mosquito bite even if there is no disease risk. Use a chemical-free bug repellent like doTerra's essential oil blend, TerraShield. It comes in a convenient spray. It worked for my family as we hiked in the woods and walked the beaches of Belize!
