Blackstone Recipes: Savory Hawaiian Fried Rice Recipe (6 Ingredients, 16 Minutes) Shortcut Recipes Grains Dinner Grilling Pork Side Dishes Fruit Asian Recipes
Fried rice on your camping trip? Yes! This savory Hawaiian fried recipe is from the cookbook The Blackstone Griddle Camping Cookbook. Spam is very shelf-stable, which makes it a perfect camping ingredient, but if you don’t like it, feel free to use diced deli ham instead. The Japanese barbecue sauce in this Hawaiian fried rice recipe is a sweet soy-based sauce that is perfect for fried rice.
To make this Blackstone recipe – though you can definitely make it in a skillet on your stovetop – you only need six simple ingredients that pack well for camping trips or for quick meals at home. Here is your short shopping list: butter, pre-cooked jasmine rice, a can of Spam, eggs, pineapple chunks (check out the health benefits of pineapple) and Japanese barbecue sauce.
The Japanese barbecue sauce is just one option for this fried rice. You could use the same amount of soy sauce instead or even a teriyaki or stir-fry sauce. Adding a cup of frozen diced peas and carrots is also a nice touch. Other meat options included diced chicken or steak -- just add three minutes to the cook time to make sure the meat is cooked through.
Serve this easy fried rice for lunch or dinner with your favorite side dishes.
