Crispy Parmesan Brussels Sprouts Recipe Is Hard to Stop Eating (5 Ingredients) Vegetables Side Dishes Vegetarian Low Sodium Recipes Gluten-free Snacks Budget Recipes
Brussels sprouts and I go way back. When I was very young and my friends would only eat corn like many kids, I was eating spinach, asparagus, greens, beets and brussels sprouts. My mom only boiled brussels sprouts, so when I started cooking and learned new brussels sprouts recipes, I was in vegetable heaven. My latest discovery is this easy crispy Parmesan brussels sprouts recipe.
You only need five simple ingredients to make a batch of these crispy brussels sprouts. Here is your shopping list: fresh brussels sprouts, olive oil, garlic, Parmesan cheese and panko breadcrumbs. The ingredients are tossed together and then put in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes, flip them over and bake about 10 minutes more. Once crispy and golden brown, they are ready to be scraped off the baking sheet and eaten. (While the brussels sprouts bake, read about the health benefits of brussels sprouts.)
These mouth-watering baked brussels sprouts are the perfect side dish with chicken, beef, pork, lamb or whatever you're making tonight. Leftover brussels sprouts can be tossed into a salad, grain bowl or buddha bowl. You could even serve them as an appetizer with a dipping sauce.
Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 40 minutes
Servings: 6
Ingredients
- 16 ounces brussels sprouts, ends trimmed and cut in half
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/3 cup panko or gluten-free panko
Here's how to make it:
- Put the cut brussels sprouts into a mixing bowl. Add the olive oil, garlic, Parmesan cheese and panko. (Use gluten-free panko for a gluten-free side dish.) Season with salt and black pepper, if desired. Toss to coat. (If you can, buy brussels sprouts all about the same size for even cooking. Freshly grated cheese melts better than pre-shredded cheese, so grate your own fresh if you can. Add some crushed red pepper flakes or ground cayenne for a little spice.)
- Put the brussels sprouts in a single layer, cut side down on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
- Bake in a preheated 400-degree F oven for about 20 minutes. Flip the brussels sprouts over and bake about 10 more minutes, or until golden and crispy.
- Using a spatula, scrape the brussels sprouts and cheese off the baking sheet. Store any leftover brussels sprouts in an airtight container in the fridge.
