The sweetness of carrots combines so well with the earthy taste of cabbage in this side dish recipe. To make this quick and easy cabbage side dish you will need a head of green cabbage, fresh carrots, garlic and butter. The cabbage and carrots cook up in a skillet in about five to eight minutes.

  • 1 small head cabbage, shredded fine
  • 3 carrots, grated 
  • 4 - 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/8 cup water
  • fresh chopped parsley, for serving (optional)

Here's how to make it: 

  1. Put the butter and water into a large skillet. Add the cabbage, carrots and garlic. Season with salt and black pepper. 
  2. Cook, stirring often, until cabbage is desired tenderness, about 5 to 8 minutes. Taste and add more salt and pepper, if needed. Stir in parsley, if using, and serve.
