Renting a car can be a great thing, but it also opens you up to potential liability and/or financial issues if something goes wrong. Whether you're traveling with the family on a road trip or just renting a car for the day, make sure to protect yourself. 

As soon as you sign the rental agreement and get the car keys, take a picture of your car from all angles. Your smartphone can be especially helpful for this. By taking pictures, if there’s any issue about any scratches, scrapes, dents, etc., you will have a date-stamped picture to prove your case.
