Does "Snow White" Send the Wrong Message to Kids? Why the Disney Fairy Tale Is Being Attacked! by Meredith Schneider

Who knew that "Snow White" would be trending on Twitter this morning. Relaxing drinking my coffee and enjoying a fresh bagel, I almost choked reading about why "Snow White" is trending. Disney's "Frozen" star, Kristen Bell, claims the fairy tale is sending the wrong message about consent to children. That the prince should have asked permission.

As a mother of four, three being daughters, I couldn't keep quiet about this. We are talking about a 19th-century German fairy tale that the Brothers Grimm first published in 1812. He kissed her to break a spell. Again, it's a fairy tale. He couldn't ask her permission, she was sleeping. And again, it's a fairy tale.

It is our job as parents to teach our children the difference about:

  • good vs. evil
  • right from wrong
  • real vs. make believe
  • how we should treat others
  • how others should treat us

All comes down to common sense, in my book. Again, it's a fairy tale! Let's not pick them apart and make a political circus out of precious reading time with our children.

This has gone too far. What do YOU think?

P.S. In the original version, the prince doesn't kiss Snow White. One of the servants trips carrying her coffin and the piece of poisoned apple is dislodged from her throat.

This video is longer than 30 seconds, but we think it's worth it.

Oh my goodness, seriously? I think that’s taking it a bit too far... Thanks for this, Meredith Schneider !

I am all for consent and teaching our children at an early age, but this seems like quite a reach. There are SO MANY movies I'd peg as trouble before Snow White.

Mike Prochaska Elisa All Schmitz 30Seconds Jessica Acree did you hear?! Cinderella & The Little Mermaid are next! 🤦‍♀️ Keira Knightley was on Ellen and talked about how she has banned her daughter from Disney movies The Little Mermaid and Cinderella. What is happening? I’m going to stick my toes back in the sand here in Florida and keep raising strong level headed kids and let them watch ALL DISNEY movies and read ALL fairy tails.
