I love traveling and experiencing a different way of life even if it's only for a very short time. My love for travel has led me to look no further than my own backyard: local cities, that is!
Viewing where you live as if you don't actually live there makes you think about it in a different way. Where would you go if you only had one week? Here's why I love being a local tourist and why you should, too:
- You discover gems that you never knew existed before like tea time at a local Victorian home open to the public to explore.
- You finally try that restaurant you have always wanted to go to but never did.
- You look for events and mark your calendar to attend. Charles Dickens festival, anyone? Hello, that's a real thing!
Becoming a local tourist opens the doors of adventure. The best part of it is that you don't have to go too far to find it! Even if you think you've seen it all because you live where you grew up, it doesn't really mean you explored all there is to see. So, pretend you're someone else and plan a trip to your hometown.
