Hotels in Positano, Italy: Finding the Italian Dream at the La Sirenuse Hotel on the Amalfi Coast

Sitting in the white-washed dining room, pink bougainvilleas climbing the walls, creating shadows in the candlelit dining room, I knew this would be one of the most beautiful places I would ever be. As I drank white wine with scents of hydrangea I could hear the waves hitting the shore hundreds of feet below. There was only one thought in my head: please let this be the longest two days of my life.

After dinner as I explored the antiques in the hotel, I made my way up to the room I shared with my husband. The simple yet elegant room opened onto a small balcony where we sat and looked over the lights on the surrounding cliffs. This was Positano, and I would never be the same for having stayed in La Sirenuse Hotel.

Getting here had been a mix of terror and laughter as I wound around the narrow road of the Amalfi coast, sometimes driving with nothing but mirrors hanging from the rocky cliffs or ancient stone buildings. Every tense moment was immediately washed away as I drove our rental car into the small driveway in front of the hotel. The arched entry of the terra cotta-colored building welcomed us into the white-washed hotel. Old stone floors and antique pieces mixed with comfortable seating and views of the sea and the surrounding cliff side village were beyond my wildest dreams.

Outside, the pool, outdoor dining room and lounge area were lined with huge flowerpots overflowing with purple flowers and olive trees. It was absolute perfection. I followed the porter to our room over the gray and floral tiles, up white-walled stairways and into a room I would never want to leave. While the room was nice and comfortable, it was the view out of the French doors that made it so special. Houses stacked on top of each other, climbing the mountains that create the small inlet of Positano. A colorful palette of yellows, oranges, whites and pinks all mixing together to create a perfect collage of elegance.

To say this hotel is luxurious, romantic and perfectly detailed would be an understatement. In every way it is better described as a perfect dream. Le Sirenuse hotel is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will forever hold a place in my heart.

I was only in Positano for one day. Doesn't make much sense, huh? There are no words for this hotel. Adding it to my wish list.
