Immigration Debate: How to Help Immigrant Children Separated From Their Families at the Border

Tonight my mind is preoccupied. Not with the normal, day-to-day working-mom stuff our brains are filled with, but with the families out there who aren’t with their babies tonight.

It’s easy to say, "I don’t want to be political," and to refuse to engage in the ever-present three-ring circus of political melee. However, to quote the great Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., "The time is always right to do what is right." More than 500 children have been separated from their parents since Trump’s zero-tolerance policy was enacted less than a month ago.

  • Five-hundred kids who didn’t do anything wrong.
  • Five-hundred kids who don’t understand where their parents are.
  • Five-hundred kids who are sleeping alone tonight without their families.

My heart breaks for them tonight, and it’s up to us to be their voice.

Here's how you can help end family separation and ensure protection for children via SupportKind.org.

Thank you for sharing this. What an awful situation. It feels good to at least do something.

look into becoming a foster parent, it’s a great way to be “on call” for a child who needs a safe, love filled home. Take that first step. It changes lives.
