Vacations Are Work, But Don’t Lose Sight of the Reason You’re Skipping Town

Prepping for a fun-filled family vacation that’s sure to make big memories sure is a lot of work! The overwhelm is real, but that’s probably only in my crazy mom-brain. My husband, who is always super helpful and focused, could still be ready to walk out the door after spending about 15 minutes throwing essentials into a duffle bag he’s had since high school. If only...

Me? I’ve been consumed by what needs to be done, when to do it, how to fit it all in, contingencies to prepare for, road trip activities to plan, etc. After all, there are errands to run, clothes to wash, lists to write and check off, bags to pack, maps to print, tabs to renew, weather to check, dogs to groom, oil to change, sunscreen to buy... My daughter knows I’m busy getting us ready, but all she cares about is the cousins she’ll get to play with, the pool she’ll spend hours in and the new experiences that await her 678 miles from home.

I’m SOOOO ready! Almost...

THIS! You are in my head, woman! I think it must be a "Venus vs. Mars" thing, because so many women will relate to this. But here is the key: "At some point you realize that while it’s beneficial to be prepared for an epic trip, it’s also essential to embrace the unexpected, welcome the spontaneous and appeciate each beautiful, unplanned moment along the way. After all, that’s when the magic happens!" Amen, sister. Thank you, and bon voyage. Have the best time!

I wrote this sitting at the Secretary of State renewing my tabs as we prepared for the trip, lol There’s always a million things to do but some of it feels a bit extra once you take a step back! So glad you can relate! Mom brain is REAL 😆 And thank you!!!
