Heading to Munich for Oktoberfest? Don’t Forget Your Wallet! by Donna John

Beginning in September, Oktoberfest will see around seven million visitors from far and wide flocking to die Wiesn in Munich. Known for its fun and frivolity, those who visit may also find some high associated costs. With a beer costing around $11.70 and increased accommodation and flight prices, ABCD Agency and Kiwi.com decided to produce an infographic showing just how much travel and tourism income the city of Munich looks to make during this period. Check it out here!
Here are some highlights of their findings:
- hotel prices increased by 85 percent
- flights increased by 220 percent
- calculations showed a city income of over $1.5 billion
Higher costs, however, will not deter the four million Oktoberfest lovers who fly in annually to celebrate with three million locals, often for days at a time.
