Does Your Newborn Have Tongue Tie? How It Can Affect Breastfeeding!

My baby was born with tongue tie, which restricts the tongue's range of motion, making breastfeeding challenging. We took her in for a frenotomy procedure while I was fighting the breast infection mastitis, which may have been caused by the fact that she wasn't latching on correctly. This resulted in:

  • severe pain
  • bruising
  • cracked nipples

I started using nipple shields to help with pain. My lactation consultant referred us to a pediatric dentist for the procedure, and now we're all recovering. Don't give up!
