What Breastfeeding Moms Need to Know About Food & Alcohol

Breastfeeding provides numerous health benefits to both Mom and Baby. Still, some moms don’t breastfeed because they think they have to follow strict dietary guidelines, and that if they don’t follow those guidelines, the baby will have gas and be fussy. The reality is that all babies can be fussy and have gas, so what you eat most likely has little impact on that. 

One thing that isn’t a myth, however, is alcohol consumption. Think of your breast milk like your blood level. If you want to drink while breastfeeding, do it moderately and nurse before you have that glass of wine!
