Get Kids' Behavior Back on Track With This Easy Parenting Hack! Parenting

Kids may need simple reminders of the conversations and agreements they make with us during problem-solving discussions. Make it fun to help your child stay on track by allowing him to come up with a code word for you to use with when he slides. My son came up with his own word to help him remember his pledge not to talk back to me. I only had to prompt him with a peppy, non-judgmental “Switzerland!” a couple of times. 

The process of discussing what needed to change and eliciting his own choice as a tool for success helped with his internal shift. And the pesky negative behavior was history!
