Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Let's Not Allow Hate to Divide Us: The Power of Forgiveness, by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by Elisa A. Schmitz 30Seconds

Forgiveness does more than heal. Forgiveness is love. As we remember and honor Martin Luther King, Jr., I share one of my favorite quotes about forgiveness from him:
"We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
In these challenging times, his words resonate so strongly today. Let's not allow hate to divide us. Let's stand up for each other in the face of bigotry, bullying and deception. Let's shine a light on the positive rather than be dragged down by the negative. Let's be beacons of hope that encourage others to shine brightly, too.
And, let's remember Dr. King's powerful words: "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."
Thank you, Martin Luther King, Jr., for showing us the way. May we keep your dream alive, now more than ever, and always.
