4 Ways to Foster a Love of Reading in Children!

Reading is beneficial for kids, not to mention fun. Here's how to foster a love of reading!

  • Use a puppet or doll to tell or be characters in the story.
  • Arrange a special setting. Select a colorful carpet, sit outside under a tree or arrange pillows, blankets and/or cushions for your child to sit in a quiet corner.
  • Recap the story. Ask your child “what if” questions by extending the story’s ending. Follow through on each character and ask, “What would happen if the characters acted differently?” “Can you make up a different ending to the story?”
  • Read to your child throughout the day. Try bedtime or breakfast.

And don't forget to let your kids see you reading as well!
