Teaching Kids Values: This Parenting Hack Uses the Power of Words

As an author, words are important to me. But as a psychologist, I know the importance words hold in teaching my kids. Words like:

  • wisdom
  • charity
  • gratitude
  • patience
  • love
  • acceptance

These are all values I want to teach my family. To help this happen, I put important value-words around my home, in places my kids will see them often. Wooden cutouts, typed up words or phrases on the fridge, or important words on walls in their bedrooms – this shows my kids what matters to me and subtly teaches them to want to embrace the same kinds of values.

It's a great way to decorate and teach values at the same time!
