It often takes a lot of effort for my son to focus when it comes to eating. There are so many other fun things to do! Why not create a snack that's also a game? Go "fishing" for your food!
For a pole, grab a celery or carrot stick. The bait is a bit of hummus (or nut butter), and the fish are whole grain fish crackers. Dip the pole in the bait and go fish! My son loved this, and it encouraged him to try hummus, which was a new food for him. Play along with your kids!
