Time-Out Turned Up: This Effective Discipline Technique is Super Nanny Approved! by Cheryl Leahy

In our house, we use the Naughty Mat Technique that I learned from watching "Super Nanny." It is incredibly effective and helps give both my son and I a much-needed timeout.

If he does something inappropriate, I first issue a warning. If the behavior continues, I put him on the Naughty Mat. I tell him why he is sitting there, and come back in two minutes (a minute for each year of age). I ask him to tell me what he did, we do a hug, a kiss, an "I love you" and move on!

The first time is the toughest. It might take dozens of tries to get them to stay, but worth every second of the effort!
