Let's Not "Sandwich In" Our Kids: How White Bread Created Parenting Wisdom & a Happy Child

I never served my son white bread, or much sugar (yes, birthday parties were brutal)! I gave him whole-grain bread, and every day he brought his sandwich home, uneaten. I pleaded with him to it eat it, but he never did, and I was miserable.

Eventually I realized, "Screw it! The world isn’t going end if Lucas eats some blessed white bread.” So now I pack him PB&J on Italian white bread and he loves it! He’s happy, and so am I, because I’m free.

Holding on to rigid definitions of "right and wrong" just doesn’t work. What a relief to step outside of our self-imposed restrictions. How about you?
