Start New 4th of July Traditions: 3 Fun Flag Facts to Share With Your Kids This Independence Day!

Parades, barbecues and fireworks grace a high number of 4th of July parties. But take a moment this July 4th to look back. Start a new tradition by adding an American flag while you share a piece of history with a few flag facts with your kids.

  • Did you know Betsy Ross is said to have sewn the first American flag, although many historians challenge this fact?
  • Did you know our flag consists of 13 horizontal stripes, seven red and six white?
  • The stripes represent the original 13 colonies while the 50 stars represent each state of the Union.

Enjoy this Independence Day. Happy 4th of July!
