My Mother's Kiss: A Mother's Day Memory Can Be Found in the Smallest Things

When I was a little girl, I used to watch my mom get ready for work. I was fascinated watching her put on makeup and do her hair. I wanted to be just like her, so I used to pretend to put my makeup on, too.

My favorite part was when she would blot her lipstick on a square piece of tissue and her red lips would be imprinted on the sheet. I would wait patiently until she handed me the square piece of tissue. Happily, I would gallop off with my mother’s kiss. I don’t even know if she realized how special that was to me.

I love you, Mommy, and happy Mother's Day to all!

Beautiful, Mindy Hudon, M.S., CCC-SLP . What a wonderful memory to have. What are your plans for Mother's Day?

I love this, Mindy Hudon, M.S., CCC-SLP ! I remember putting a lipstick "kiss" into the palm of my girls' hands when they wouldn't want me to leave at preschool drop-off. With those same girls now blotting lipstick of their own as they run out the door, I'm the one who's missing those memories!! Happy Mother's Day! Donna John
