"Become the Fire" First Book Signing: One Wonderful Hour Amidst Life's Chaos & Fires

If you’ve been following my journey of writing, publishing and now launching my new book, Become the Fire: Transform Life’s Chaos into Business and Personal Success, you know that I share the milestones in the hopes to inspire others. Whether you want to write a book, start a business, take the next step in your career or pivot to something entirely new, my goal is to impart my experience in order to help you go from dreaming to doing.

With that in mind, I share the next chapter in the story behind the book: the first book signing. Being entirely new to book publishing (as with everything else on this book journey), I didn’t really know what to expect. But seeing a promo for my book event tucked into the Halloween display in the window of the cozy Barbara’s Bookstore in Hawthorn Mall (Vernon Hills, Ill.) made it feel real, real fast.

The store and staff were warm and inviting, and they’d set up a table and chairs for me, right in front of the Current Events section. It was the perfect place to be in the mix of things, sign some books, converse with others and take it all in.

The store manager put signed copies of my book in the store’s Business section – among business author titans like Dave Ramsey, Indra Nooyi, Reshma Saujani and Jen Sincero – as well as in the Mind, Body, Spirit section – where it may be discovered by an entirely different audience.

Humbled and honored, I got a bit emotional at that moment: Seeing my book among so many other amazing titles was another validation of “I did it.” I pushed through all the chaos and fires in my life. I wrote about it in the hopes that it would inspire others. And now the book is sitting on bookstore shelves, hoping to find a home in the hands of someone it might help.

Surrounding all of this was chaos, of course, because that’s just how life can be. Just as I write about in Become the Fire, it’s how you handle the chaos and fires in your life that makes all the difference. This time, my daughter and her dog were both not feeling well, so right up until the book signing and immediately following it, the two of them were front and center for me.

But for one wonderful hour, I soaked in that big moment for Become the Fire. I am honored and I am grateful, and I thank you for your continued support of this amazing adventure. I hope Become the Fire inspires you or someone you think may benefit from the book!
