Potty Training Regression: How to Handle This Bump on the Potty-Training Road

You’ve finally succeeded in potty training: the bed is dry at night, all waste is going in the potty and your child is even washing his or her hands afterward. Then, all of a sudden, it seems all your hard work was just flushed down that potty instead of your child’s waste. What happened? When it comes to potty training, regression is not uncommon. This is especially true if there's a new stress in your child’s life such as:

  • a move
  • new caregiver
  • birth of a sibling

Being positive and helpful are key to getting your child back on track. Gentle encouragement works wonders. Take it easy!
