National Day of Silence: How to Connect With Your Family By Disconnecting

It may sound like white noise to you, but the TV in the background and incoming text alerts are keeping your family from truly connecting at the dinner table. Disconnect to electronics and connect to conversation. Worried the silence will be deafening?

  • If you must have background noise, tune into something soothing, like classical music.
  • To start the conversation, ask everyone to share one thing that made them smile that day.

Even if dinner only lasts 10 minutes, your family has learned more from each other than they would with the constant reminder of the outside world buzzing. It’s OK to miss a call!
