Fine Motor Skills Development: Here's a Fun Way to Improve Your Child's Fine Motor Skills by Carrie Wells
Some kids need extra help developing their fine motor skills, but you don't want to make it feel like work. Here’s a fun way to work on your child’s fine motor skills. Take small objects like:
- coins
- counting bears
- plastic bugs
- LEGOs
- marbles
"Bury" the items inside a container filled with Play-Doh. Your child will have to dig through the dough to retrieve all of the objects. If you want to make it more challenging, use Silly Putty instead of Play-Doh. This is a good activity to get kids used to textures they may be averse to, as well. Note: Small items can be choking hazards for small children. Adult supervision is required!
