Mason Jar Ice Cream Recipe: A Fun Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream Recipe

Mason jars can be used for so many things – including making ice cream. This mason jar ice cream recipe is a fun activity to do with the kids and tastes pretty darn good, too. Let the kids take turns shaking the mason jar, or do it yourself as an arm workout. Really! You'll love the creamy reward at the end.

All you need to make this mason jar ice cream is heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Plus some enthusiasm to shake the jar!

Recipe Notes

You can jazz up your mason jar ice cream by adding a flavoring before shaking. Here's some ideas:

Here's how to make it:

  1. Gather the ingredients.
  2. Put all the ingredients into a mason jar with a lid.
  3. Shake for 3 to 5 minutes. Do not over shake or it will turn into butter.
  4. Put it into the freezer and freeze for at least 2 hours.
  5. Remove from the freezer and allow it to sit about 10 minutes to soften up before eating.
