Virtual Mother's Day Ideas: 5 Ways to Have An Unforgettable Mother’s Day Without Being There

This Mother’s Day, it’s more important than ever to make a big, loving gesture. Many of us have been away from loved ones for what feels like an eternity, so let’s make our mothers and the special women in our lives feel extra appreciated and plan an unforgettable virtual Mother’s Day.

I’m very close with twin sons, so Mother’s Day is a very important holiday in our house and something I genuinely enjoy doing. We love to bake and do crafts together, which is an essential part of this special occasion, but I always make sure to take a few moments of me time over the course of the day to recharge myself (because I’m still the “mother” in Mother’s Day, after all!)

1. Cooking Classes

Coming together to prepare food for family and friends is a time-honored expression of affection that translates wonderfully over Zoom. Pair your party with a chef who can’t wait to share a crowd-pleasing recipe and walk you through making it in your own kitchen. All that’s left is to enjoy dinner and the perfect wine pairing or beautifully decorated cakes and cookies with your favorite people. Customize it to mom’s liking with themes like sangria and tapas or cheese and charcuterie for extra flair, or make it kid-friendly with challah French toast, and bright, healthy fruit smoothies.

2. Flower Crowns and Rosé

Nothing says “special day” like a stunning flower crown handcrafted with love, except perhaps a cheery bottle of spring-tacular rosé. Plan an online get-together to catch up over a fun, creative art project that celebrates moms everywhere with the fresh, floral bounty of spring. Best of all, everyone will have a one-of-a-kind memento to commemorate the occasion.

3. Virtual Yoga Class and Flowering Teas

Raise your hand if you could use a virtual yoga class right now (our hands are raised!). It's a soothing, wellness-focused way to loosen tight muscles, calm stressed minds and enjoy time together knowing everyone is reaping the time-tested benefits of this ancient practice. End your class with one last sip of tranquility in the form of flowering teas, deeply inhale the delicate aromas as the blossoming tea unfolds and appreciate all that mothers do for us.

4. Trivia Night

What’s a topic mom knows best? Whether it’s Disney movies, family fun facts, rock ‘n roll history or all things Barbra Streisand, there’s no better way to celebrate her interests than an online trivia night that brings everyone together. Laugh, love and make new memories to keep the cheer going until you can all celebrate in-person.

5. Corporate Gifting

Let working mothers know their exceptionally hard work is appreciated with a specially curated Mother’s Day corporate package. Selecting gifts that specifically acknowledge the need for self-care and mindful balance can go a long way in boosting morale and maintaining important professional relationships.
