Former President Trump, You're Fired: Why Donald Trump Needs to Move On So We Can, Too by Dawn Taylor
Let me start by saying I don’t care who anyone votes for. The point of a democracy is the people choose their president. And as harsh as it is for many, Donald J. Trump lost the 2020 election. And he fought the results and still lost. He not only lost but he refused to concede which has created two months of division when what the country needs is a smooth transition for our new president, Joe Biden.
No matter who wins an election in the United States, a smooth transition of power has always been expected and has always been respected. Until now. Trump didn’t have to like the results, but he should have accepted them. The lies and misinformation that flowed with his encouragement have made it difficult for the country to move forward.
The January 6, 2021, attack on the capitol building was proof that what a president says holds a great amount of power, for good and bad.
The people have voted. And just like we saw on the former president’s reality show, The Celebrity Apprentice, the harsh words “you’re fired” can be difficult to hear.
Alas, it’s time to move on.
