A Safer Halloween: 7 Low-Risk Halloween Activities From the American Red Cross

Halloween will still be different this year due to COVID-19. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advices parents to consider outside activities and for everyone to wear face masks. If you're still concerned about Halloween gatherings, here are some low-risk activities you can do instead.

Consider these lower-risk activities:

  1. Carve or decorate pumpkins with members of your household.
  2. Carve or decorate pumpkins outside, at a safe distance, with neighbors or friends.
  3. Decorate your living space.
  4. Do a Halloween scavenger hunt where children are given lists of Halloween-themed things to look for while they walk outdoors from house to house admiring Halloween decorations at a distance.
  5. Have a virtual Halloween costume contest.
  6. Have a Halloween movie night with people with whom you live.
  7. Have a scavenger hunt-style trick-or-treat search with your household members in or around your home rather than going house to house.
