Thomas Rhett's "Be A Light": How a Song & Video Are Spreading Hope & Light Through a Pandemic by Donna John

When Thomas Rhett’s new song, Be A Light, came on the radio, it gave me goosebumps. The song has an inspiring and uplifting message of hope we all so desperately need right now. Little did I know there was even more inspiration to be found connected with this song: a video by two sisters in Arizona.

The sisters, KaBrina and KaTasha Kringen, got together and brainstormed a project to lift spirits in their neighborhood during the coronavirus pandemic. "At first we were like OK, we will just put one heart here, you know, walk 6 feet draw another heart. All of a sudden, it became like hearts everywhere,” KaTasha told ABC 15 News.

Chalk drawings began to cover sidewalks and roads, which inspired the girls to document it. They shared the video on Instagram where it went viral. The background of their video is Rhett’s new song, "Be A Light."

“This video was shared and made by KaBrina and KaTasha Kringen in Mesa, Arizona. It made me smile and I hope it does the same for you. We are still united during this time of distance. Keep sharing your light with your friends, families, communities and the world. We all need it and would love to see it, #BeALight,” Rhett writes on his website.

The song features country artists Hillary Scott (Lady A), Chris Tomlin, Keith Urban and Reba McEntire. Take a listen, take a look, then maybe you'll be inspired to do something for your neighborhood or community  or at least grab a stick of sidewalk chalk.

This video is longer than 30 seconds, but we think it's worth it.
