Senator Mitt Romney Marches in Washington, D.C., to Support Black Lives Matter Movement

Utah Republican Senator Mitt Romney marched to the White House on Sunday, June 7, with about 1,000 protesters. The Christian group had gathered to protest the death of George Floyd, who was killed by a Minneapolis police officer.

When asked why it was important for him to be a part of the protest, Romney said, "We need a voice against racism. We need many voices against racism and against brutality,” reports NBC News.

The senator has actively tweeted about George Floyd. On May 28, Romney tweeted: "No Americans should fear enmity and harm from those sworn to protect us. The death of George Floyd must not be in vain: Our shock and outrage must grow into collective determination to extinguish forever such racist abuse."

Romney’s own father marched in a civil rights demonstration in the ‘60s.

This is amazing! Thank you, Senator Romney, for your courage and your leadership. Thank you for your bipartisanship and your letting your conscience guide you. We need more leaders like you, now more than ever!
