Systemic Racism in America: Why Showing Up for Black Lives Matters by Christie Gosch

When a neighbor asked if families would like to "show up for black lives" in a local park, she never envisioned more than 1,000 people coming out. I believe that the only way we are going to tear down the systemic racism in our country is for white people to:

  • show up
  • stand up
  • support those that are oppressed

The mostly peaceful protests are happening across this nation and throughout the world right now because it is time for black people to have the same justice and peace that white America has had for more than 400 years.

We can do better.

We must do better.

Thanks Elisa. I was on a call tonight with others doing work on racism and what came through loud and clear is that this is the moment of the millenia - when Covid 19 hit, it unveiled the unjust economic divides in this country so profoundly. Then, with many of us watching from home, the racist events in the US were too hard to ignore. It is a perfect storm and the time for the world to change!

Totally agree it is the perfect storm and change needs to happen, now. I think the momentum is there and enough people are behind it that we will see change happen (it's already happening). Thank you for all you do, Christie Gosch . xoxo
