Thanksgiving is a great time to reflect on things we are grateful for. It forces us to take stock of what we value.
I’m no different. Being with my kids is everything and I love putting a nice meal together for them, and love the laziness of the day that doesn’t involve gifts and pressure, the way Christmas does. It’s just us, spending time together, filling our bellies and filling our hearts.
I also try every day to find reasons to be grateful, but with a crazy work schedule and my kids having their own crazy school and activity schedules, it is sometimes tough to focus on gratitude. But I try.
It helps me to have a mantra to call upon at Thanksgiving, and anytime. In those moments of chaos – and especially in those moments of chaos – I sometimes just take a deep breath and say, "I am so grateful for everything we have." It resets my energy and purpose and helps get me through the craziness.
So take a deep breath every day and find what keeps you going. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
