Happy Birthday James South! WWII Veteran James South Wants 100 Birthday Cards for His 100th Birthday by Donna John

James South is turning 100 on October 7. The World War ll veteran, who lives in a retirement home near Dallas, Texas, has a special request for his birthday: he hopes to receive 100 birthday cards for his 100th birthday.
“It would give me a feeling that I am recognized for what I do, what I am. And I would cherish it forever,” South says in an interview on WFAA in Dallas.
The retirement home that South resides at posted a photo of him holding a sign asking for the birthday cards. The sign read: “Hello! My name is James South and I am a proud World War II Veteran! I will be turning 100 on October 7th, 2019 and I would like to receive 100 birthday cards.”
His late wife of 55 years sparked his love for cards. While they were dating during WWll, she wrote him a letter every day he was gone. Every day.
