Holiday Toy Safety: 5 Things to Consider When Making Your Holiday Shopping List for Kids!

Buying holiday gifts for the kids in our lives isn’t as easy as you might think. Toys come in all shapes and sizes, but some are a lot safer (and more appropriate) than others. Check out this quick toy-buying checklist to make sure you’re making the right choice.

  • Buy for the right age. Child prodigies can still choke on a marble, so even if they’re advanced for their age, don’t round up.
  • Do the toilet paper test. For babies and toddlers, don’t buy anything with parts that can fit through a toilet paper roll.
  • Check the labels. All toys should be machine washable, flame resistant and non-toxic. Skip the hand-me-downs. Toys from your childhood may have long cords, lead paint or other hazards, so better to leave them in the attic.
  • Assemble first. Unassembled toys may have small parts or tools meant for adults, so put them together before you wrap.
  • Check the reviews. Plenty of parents and grandparents offer the inside scoop on toys you may be considering. Read what they say!

We put a lot of pressure on finding the perfect gift, especially when it comes to toys. Make sure you’re buying something safe and fun!
