Are You Living the Dream? Here's a Must-Watch Christmas Video (You'll See Why!) by Tiffany Zook

I have shoes, running water, food, electricity, a job, a car, my spouse, but I'm guilty of waking some mornings and not being thankful for my Nikes. I take hot showers and forget how fortunate I am. My kids walk by (not typically wrapped in Christmas paper) and I take my healthy child for granted.

This video from Forest Hill Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, is not only hysterically funny, but hits home to many of us just living the dream. Here's the reality, according to DoSomething.org:

  • 800 million people live without access to clean water and go hungry
  • 1 billion children live in poverty
  • 1.6 billion live without electricity
  • 22,000 children die each day due to poverty and hunger that are preventable with proper sanitation, clean food, clean water and vaccines

On my last trip to Uganda, I was face to face with these startling statistics. Watching kids, no older than my little girl, carrying murky water in jerry cans, barefoot. Heartbreaking. Tribe, when we are shopping for others this season, let's go a step further. Let's make an impact globally – let's change a life of someone in extreme poverty. Let's give on Giving Tuesday, and every Tuesday after.
