The Best Toys for Kids: Discover the Good Toy Guide by Fundamentally Children at the Chicago Toy and Game Fair (ChiTAG)! by Elisa Schmitz
Mom and Dad, here's an excellent resource for parents who care about what their kids play with. It's called the Good Toy Guide, and we got to chat with Amanda Gummer from Fundamentally Children at the Chicago Toy and Game Fair (ChiTAG) about it.
Good Toy Guide was set up to give parents free, independent expert advice on toys, play and child development. "We review toys with children and experts and professionals who have been trained in how to observe children playing in natural settings, in natural ways so you get really authentic reviews," says Amanda. "All the toys are tested on lots of different occasions and on different children so you can really trust the advice you get.”
The guide itself is the product reviews, but on the Fundamentally Children website there’s advice on child development, play and parenting. "There’s the Good App Guide for advice on apps. So it’s really helping parents feel a bit more empowered and being able to choose toys that are good for their kids’ development rather than just the latest thing advertised on television.”
The Good Toy Guide is based in the U.K., and has been around for six years. “This is our first trip to the U.S. to launch over here … Parents here [in the U.S.] are so desperate for that trusted advice," says Amanda.
