Family Reunion Ideas: Are You Ready for the "Family Tax" & to Give Back?

Want to shake up your next family reunion and help others in the process? Here's a fun idea from International Voice of the Orphan: Dedicate your next family reunion to charity by imposing a family tax! The idea is simple, yet humorous. Here's how:

Set up a "family tax" before the get-together. Have the cousins get involved by writing down the rules and the tax it carries, but keep it quiet until the day of the party. Examples:

  • Men sporting facial hair pay $10.
  • Telling a dirty joke pays $5.
  • Drinking out of a red Solo cup pays $2.
  • Everyone who brings a salad made with mayonnaise is taxed double!

Set out tax collection jars. Have a taxation jar in the bathroom for trips to the potty, and a jar by the cooler for the infamous beer tax.

Collect those taxes! Grandma Marge will pay dearly when she's taxed $2 per grandchild, and Uncle Daryl will pay a pretty penny for riding his motorcycle to the party.

Get creative! Make it fun! At the end of the party, everyone wins, especially your charity of choice. Check out more fun ways to fund raise at secure.qgiv.com/event/hope.
