After the Brett Kavanaugh Confirmation: Be the Light That Pushes Away the Darkness

After the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the United States Supreme Court, I read a comment on Facebook by Elisa All Schmitz: “We need to be the light when it seems dark.” While this is not a political piece, I strongly agree that we need to be our own light in the darkness.

Opening my eyes to the world around me, I finally saw what truly was, but to a small extent. In the process of opening my eyes to the darkness that surrounds us every day in all parts of our world, I also found that an even greater power frees us from total destruction. That power is the light that comes from those that feel a greater power and produce the light that pushes away the darkness.

Sure, that light can only do so much from a handful of people. But can you imagine if that handful of light spread from person to person? As writers (and everyone can be a writer), we can show others that they are not alone. We are always here to rescue anyone that asks for help from the darkness that is trying to consume their small piece of this world.

We have each other and with that we can do a lot.
