Moms, Follow Your Dreams & Goals (After Getting the Kids on the School Bus!) by Morgan Hawthorne
After 10 years of having my babies home with me every day, my youngest child just started kindergarten, so I have an empty nest! I work nights, so after I go back to sleep for a bit after the kids get on the bus I have spare time like I haven't known since before becoming a mom. I know that there are a lot of other moms in similar situations, so I have been brainstorming some ideas to fill those days sharing love with your community:
- I have volunteered for room mom for my son's class, which I have never had time for because of my daughter being home with me.
- I signed up to go and read to my daughter's kindergarten class, and to go in and help with the classroom.
- I contacted local animal shelters to see if they need volunteers to help with the animals during the week. We have two rescued animals that we love dearly, and I would love to help animals that are in the same position that our babies were in before adoption.
- I have also decided to go back to school and follow my dreams to be an elementary school teacher.
I feel that it is finally time for me to pursue my own life goals – at least until my children get off of the bus!
