Developmental Activities for Kids: Why Swinging Is Fun & Learning for Kids

Swinging is an important development activity for your toddler and preschoolerThe simple and fun activity helps them to develop strong sensory integration skills. It enables children to integrate actions within their vestibular, tactile and proprioceptive systems.

Swinging allows children to systematize and understand past experiences with:

  • touch
  • sight
  • sounds
  • movement
  • body awareness in space
  • the effects of gravity

Then they apply them to what they're currently doing!

Swinging helps children develop and tone physically, both fine and gross motor skills as well as balance and coordination. Swinging, like other sensory activities, provides excellent stimulation for kids' bodies and brains! And you can build their brains even more by sharing this poem with your kiddo:

The Swing by Robert Louis Stevenson

How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!

Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
Rivers and trees and cattle and all
Over the countryside

Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!
