Summer's Hottest Fashion & Beauty Trends With Lifestyle Blogger Cheryl Leahy! by Renee

Summer is here and our very own 30Seconds contributor, Cheryl Leahy, is stopped by to share summer’s hottest fashion and beauty trends with us! Cheryl, of All Dressed Up and Nothing to Drink, is a lifestyle blogger and media personality who believes balancing motherhood and sense of self is an art. Cheryl told us all about this summer’s fashion and beauty must-haves to help us make this summer the most fabulous one yet!
Q: What are the major trends this summer, and how can we pull them off on a budget?
- It is all about the bags! You have probably seen structural totes, wicker purses, knit bags, even picnic baskets. Go to a thrift store!
- Stripes are on the scene this summer in every piece of clothing. Invest in a great lightweight sweater that can take you into fall.
- Leopard has been popping up on celeb red carpets. It’s a classic print. I found a leopard DVF wrap dress at Luxury Garage Sale for under $100.
- Fringe and tassels are sticking around. You can DIY tassel earrings using hoops that you already have and adding looped cord or string.
A1: I will be in style as I have plenty of leopard tops in my closet. A dress would be a fabulous look #30Seconds

Q: With trends that change so often, how do I decide what to buy?
- Don’t buy, rent! I subscribe to Rocksbox and for $21 a month, I get unlimited pieces of boutique-quality jewelry three at a time in the mail, all on trend. Get your first month free using my code: CHERYLBFF54.
- I love hitting up thrift and resale shops like Buffalo Exchange or Crossroads Trading so I can find something totally unique for less.
- If you love it and it fits, buy it. Trends be damned! Make sure it fits with a few items already in your closet.
- Sell your old clothing to resale shops or on a site like Poshmark app so you have more money for new items.
Here are one of my finds from @CrossroadsStyle Gingham is a great print for all ages, and there is a lot of it in stores right now! #30seconds pic.twitter.com/0sLh3RvAPR

Q: How about shoes? I can’t handle sky-high stilettos but still want to stay stylish!
- There are so many more options for comfortable kicks now. Check out brands like Vionic shoes, Sofft shoes, Aerosoles and Naturalizer. Being in pain isn’t fashionable!
- Kitten heels are a perfect way to add a little height without limping around. I bought these for a wedding and danced all night.
- An espadrille/wedge or block heel will provide more comfort and stability.
- Ditch those cheap flip flops in favor of something with arch support. Birkenstocks are back in style!

Q: What makeup trends are in this summer season?
- Experiment with colored eyeliner. I wear purple and it brings out the green in my eyes. Test out green, teal, gold or even pink.
- Seeing skin freckles instead of covering it with makeup is in! Use a BB or CC Cream instead of your heavy foundation.
- The crazy contouring trend is thankfully out the door. Add a little bronzer and you are out the door!
- Bold red lips are always a good idea. Find a shade that complements your skin tone. MAC Ruby Woo works on many!
- If you have always wanted to try an out-there color for your hair, there are so many temporary options to try. Pastels are a fun way to dip your toe in.
I just had lash extensions and microbladed my brows so i dont wear make up ever ! The natural LOOK — so not natural lol and $$$$ #30seconds

A4: I always thought red lips with my pale skin was too much. Maybe I need to take a look at that. #30Seconds

Q: What are some “cult classic” beauty products?
- For blush, NARS Cosmetics “Orgasm” is a cheeky classic!
- For CC Cream, It Cosmetics makes an incredible formula that provides excellent coverage and is SPF 50.
- I swear by Urban Decay Naked Eyeshadow Palettes. Highly pigmented, they might be expensive but last forever!
- If you don’t use foundation primer, this will be a gamechanger! Smash Box Photo Finish Foundation Primer helps makeup go on like butter.
- To stop your makeup from melting, try Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. Perfect for summer weddings.
SPF Is a must ! #30Seconds

Q: What new items are out there to help us enjoy summer?
- I love mineral powder sunscreen. Perfect for getting into your part and re-application!
- Big, huge, round beach towels (aka “roundies”) make sharing a towel 10 times easier, and you only have to bring one to the beach for the family.
- I found the most comfortable sandals. Sanuk Footwear sandals are made out of yoga mats! The squishy, cushioned footbed is like walking on a cloud.
- I am obsessed with Scout bags. Super high-quality bags that come in cute prints! Check out the “4 boys bag.” Massive and holds all your pool and beach supplies.
RITE!!! My bag has its own tassel earrings! SO in LOVE 😍 have you seen it???? Wink wink #30seconds pic.twitter.com/cbDHAX5iE5
