Anthony Bourdain: Losing an Inspiration & Saying Goodbye to an Adventurous Soul by Sheri B Doyle

My adventurous life has been influenced by many people. Anthony Bourdain has been one of those. His talented way of showing us the world in such a unique light gave me continual inspiration. While I would never eat a lot of the food he did, I was glued to his shows for the experiences he had and the people he met.
He taught me the importance of experiencing other cultures, not just seeing sights. In his unconventional way he also proved that life was to be lived on our own terms, not following societal expectations. With each adventure he gave me permission to be adventurous, to not be afraid of what is out there in the world.
Saying goodbye to such a soul is not easy, especially under these circumstances. I think instead each time I step out of my boundaries I will think of him with gratitude for he enriched my life and invited me to see the world. I am sorry I didn’t write these words to him before. His absence will be deeper felt than I realized.
It is a solemn reminder to live the life you want, to tell people how they touch your life and to never be afraid to try something new.
