Celebrating Moms: Why & How to Let All Mothers Know How Important They Are

This week we are celebrating moms and letting all mothers know how important they are and how much they are loved. This is an easy thing for me to write about as I know first hand how much a mother does and how much she gives of herself to her children for their well-being.

My mom is looking down from Heaven and celebrating with me the good times and the challenging times of parenting, and I now understand her more and find myself looking back at my childhood while raising my own children.

A mother wears many hats daily, from being the cook, house organizer, laundry attendant, interior decorator, recreation director, teacher, nurse, coach, cheerleader, chauffeur, negotiator, referee, psychologist, spiritual leader, prayer warrior and I could actually go on and on! All of these things are what a mother does, without anyone teaching her how to do it β€“ she just does it, and her annual salary for this is lots of love, hugs and kisses! Money could not buy the feeling a mother gets when her kids are happy, healthy and thriving.

Another thing I have learned as a mom is that you would sacrifice anything to put your children first. Whether that means, your career, your dreams, your hobbies and even sometimes your own sense of well-being. I know that it is easy to put your kids first and forget about how important is for you to take care of yourself and when that happens, life can tend to be off balance. In order to be the best mom ever, you have to learn how to balance all the things that motherhood brings while taking the much needed time to care for yourself.

The best thing we can do for moms everywhere is to let them know that we appreciate all the things they do as a mom, and to give them an extra hug and some love this week as we dig deeper to understand the sacrifice that these lovely ladies have made for us and for others! Here are a few ideas for you to celebrate moms:

  • Send your mom or a mom you know a cute E-card or a special note.
  • Give a mom some flowers or a little gift like a candle or some products to pamper her,
  • Cook a mom something special or invite her to a coffee, lunch or dinner.
  • Give the moms you know an extra special hug this week.
  • Buy a gift certificate to get a special treat like a facial or massage.

However you are celebrating moms this week, make sure that you take some extra time be thankful for all the amazing things they do to make the world a better place for all of us.

My affirmation for you this week is: "I am taking some time this week to celebrate moms and to realize just how much of a gift they are to our lives and our future."
