Daymaker's Play for Puerto Rico: A Giving Opportunity to Help Kids Affected by Hurricanes Maria & Irma

In honor of Puerto Rico's 101st anniversary of United States citizenship, Daymaker has announced its newest giving opportunity, Play for Puerto Rico. Launching on March 15,  Play for Puerto Rico is a collaboration between Daymaker, Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico to provide books, games, toys and other enrichment items for thousands of children who were affected by the recent hurricanes.

Prior to the devastation caused by Hurricanes Maria and Irma, nine out of 10 children served by Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico were living in poverty, and, in some cases, these natural disasters have made the situation even more dire. The increased need to improve the children's already-strained conditions is what spurred Daymaker to take action.

"The children of Puerto Rico are still trying to return to a sense of normalcy following the hurricanes' damage, and we are in a unique position to help," says Daymaker co-founder and CEO Thomas Doochin. "Through our partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico, we hope to help these kids return to their daily routines and recover from the trauma these storms caused."

Each child involved in Play for Puerto Rico will have a personalized wish list of five items. Starting March 15, those wishing to purchase a gift can do so through the Daymaker website by simply selecting a child they identify with and choosing a meaningful gift from his or her wish list. Daymaker will send all gifts directly to Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico.

While Daymaker is primarily a kid-to-kid giving platform, the company encourages every child at heart to participate in the six-week giving initiative. To learn more about Play for Puerto Rico, as well as Daymaker's other giving opportunities, visit Daymaker.com.
